Ancient Tales of Reynard the Fox

Here, Reynard, an Apron!

Ancient tales of Reynard the Fox are in some ways the cornerstones of being Estonian – they were read and told to our mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers. These tales were in our collective memory even before they were written down; we have told, depicted, sung, danced and played them for a very, very long time. This is why these tales are not only OLD, but ANCIENT. And each generation of Estonians has interpreted the tales in their own way. A prankster fox has at some point turned into a godfather (of landlords and their friends, as Rein was a name born by Germans at the time). But how to catch these tales and share them with children in our time – for despite their old age, the tales are still a bit wild – come and see at the show.
