Five senses, three performers and one puppet
Why do I perceive the world around me the way I do? What is happening within me and what is happening around me at this moment?
Some sounds are loud, others barely audible. Some things are tiny, others overwhelmingly large. One box smells wonderful, another is impossible to open without turning away. What kind of world unfolds from all of this?
This playful puppet performance explores the path toward self-awareness through the senses. When do I feel at one with the world around me and when do I feel the need to step back? When do I let go and when am I able to move forward on my own?
Perceiving oneself in the world can be confusing, complex and sometimes overwhelming. Yet it is precisely through our senses that we become unique and one of a kind. So how do we make sense of it all? Simply: through play and discovery – just like growing up.
The production was created within the framework of a two-year master’s programme based on a collaboration between the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences, focusing on exploring and practically acquiring the diverse forms and possibilities of visual theatre.
