A Travelling Exhibition on the Anatomy of Theatre Puppets
Have you ever wondered what a theatre puppet is actually made of and how it begins to move on stage? At this exhibition, you can take a look inside a theatre puppet and discover what lies beneath the puppet’s exterior.
The travelling exhibition focuses on theatre puppets that bear some resemblance to humans. X-ray images displayed alongside the puppets allow visitors to look beneath their outer shells and discover what a puppet’s skeleton, muscles, eyes or even teeth look like.
Visitors can try their hand at building a theatre puppet and experiment with mechanisms that help the puppet move and perform.
The first stop on the travelling exhibition’s tour is the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre (Slovenia), where it will open to the public on 26 September.
The exhibition is built from modular elements that can be adapted to the possibilities of each venue. Whenever possible, the exhibition is presented in accessible spaces that can be entered by wheelchair users and people using other mobility aids.
