Annika Aedma<\/strong> and Evelin Vassar<\/strong> are puppet makers of the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences whose daily job is creating puppets for theatrical productions. Evelin Vassar graduated from\u00a0Viljandi\u00a0Culture College as theatrical production manager and began work in the then Puppet Theatre in 2002.\u00a0Annika Aedma graduated from the University of Tartu\u00a0Viljandi\u00a0Culture Academy as\u00a0prop\u00a0and set maker in the field of visual technology and began work\u00a0in\u00a0the NUKU Theatre in 2012.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Silent Encounters<\/span><\/i>\u00a0exhibits\u00a0art dolls created by Annika Aedma and Evelin Vassar, which, unlike puppets, are decorative and not meant for playing. Art dolls are comprehensive artworks that are viewed up close; the choice of material, attention to detail, and level of finishing are therefore particularly important.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Both artists created their first art dolls in the early 2010s. The exhibited works were created for various exhibition projects and have been displayed in\u00a0<\/span>Estonia as well as abroad. The artists\u2019 works clearly reveal their individual styles\u00a0characterised\u00a0by a distinctive use of\u00a0colour, careful choice of\u00a0materials\u00a0and detail-oriented formal language.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the\u00a0window\u00a0exhibition of the Museum of Puppetry Arts, the art dolls of Annika Aedma and Evelin Vassar meet for the first time in a joint exhibition, creating a comprehensive overview of their work.
