Little Red Riding Hood One Way and Another / museum game

We all know the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood, Grandmother and the Big Bad Wolf. What would this story be like in theatre without the Wolf? In the museum game, children will play Little Red Riding Hood in two versions, while at the same time learning about the history of the Puppet Theatre as well as various aspects of puppetry and storytelling.

The museum game is based on an adaptation of the popular fairy tale created by Rein Agur and Mati Unt, which premiered in the Puppet Theatre in 1973.  This was a significant production in the history of the theatre, as it set off the renewal process of the Puppet Theatre. The rules of playing Litte Red Riding Hood were unusual. Within one performance, the story was acted out in two different ways. First, the fairy tale was performed without the Wolf, resulting in a story where nothing really happened. In the second part of the play, the Big Bad Wolf was brought in, but instead of being scary, he appeared rather funny with his tin dental prosthesis.

In the museum game, children get to know various forms of puppetry and have a chance to participate in the play. The playful museum programme improves social skills such as consideration for others as well as understanding and listening skills. Repeating magic words develops children’s vocabulary and pronunciation.
