Puppet Theatre in a Fairy Tale / game

What could be done for life to be like a fairy tale? By using the playing tools of the Puppet Theatre, it is possible to enter a mysterious fairy tale world where one can fly beyond seven lands and seas and meet characters from fairy tales. There are six magic suitcases used in the game. With the help of these, the visitors can create a fairy tale on their own; impersonate the shadows of fairy tale characters and then small ballerinas in Swan Lake. Some other things that can be found in the magic suitcases are the glass slipper from the fairy tale Cinderella and the flying carpet from Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, on which one can fly to the fancy dinner table covered with theatrical magic.

The game, which was created in cooperation with a speech therapist, develops a child’s speech, creative, and manual skills. Meeting with the theatre puppets found in the museum and listening to the fairy tales related to them develops the child’s ability to pay attention, comprehension of speech, and listening skills. Examining and describing fairy tale characters as well as repeating magic spells enriches the child’s vocabulary and pronunciation skills.

Encounters with actors and puppets / workshop

In the Museum of Puppetry Arts, visitors get the chance to encounter the actors of the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences and their roles in the puppet productions. During the encounter, several secrets of life in the theatre are revealed, as the actor talks about both their work behind the curtain and the one on stage, as well as shows the puppets that they have manipulated in the productions. The actor tells the visitors about each puppet’s birth story, specific characteristics, personality, and journey in the theatre. The encounter is carried out by one actor and their puppets. At the end of the encounter, the participants can ask the actor their questions.
